ghost town // intro - sykes - 03-30-2022

It's raining. The immense beast raises its mighty head to look up with squinted eyes at the grey sky, a frown tugging at the corners of his blackened lips and causing its brow to furrow. It huffed, raising itself to stand on all four of its great paws to shake the water from its multicoloured, patched pelt. It growls, turning its head to the grave it had been laying beside before beginning to move out of the cemetery, gargantuan paws slapping against the quickly dampening leaves and mud with a wet splash.

It yawned, mouth opening wide to reveal its monstrous fangs, blackened tongue unfurling out of its mouth as it finally stepped through the walls of the cemetery and into the open, allowing itself to become visible to the naked eye once again.

Corrupttimelines was no stranger to odd looking creatures. In fact, one could say he was rather odd looking himself. Being a wyvern, well, it was atypical here. Most of those he knew were cats of varying sizes and species, or some forms of canines. But him? He was basically an underglorified dragon. Regardless, he was proud of his form and stature.

Although, this one was different.

Trudging close, the large beast allowed his gaze to trail over the new creature, a sort of hesitance following his movements. Then, his bright orange eyes would shift down to the ground, blinking a few times before deciding he should respond. “I do not believe we’ve met. Im Corrupttimelines, though most call me Cory,” he greeted, eyeing up the strange beast.

IS THE KARMA!?
Seven remembered a few strange creatures in her time of living in the swamp. Ares with her large reptile-bird thing form, mainly. But as she approached the two outlines - one of Cory and one of someone she didn't know, blind eyes narrowed slightly. Shaking her fur of water she trodded beside Cory, "Who are you?" She spoke, tail lashing. And what was he doing here?

Re: ghost town // intro - sykes - 04-01-2022

It remembered a time when it had lived like the mortals before it, although quite disdainfully. It had been beyond centuries since then, and it had grown attached to its quiet unlife in the cemetery within the lands, watching said lands shape over time, watching generations pass by and even being the one to greet them after death.

Safe to say, it wasn't particularly happy about this new development; being alive again after so long was jarring, and even more so, it was unwelcome. It had to become re-accustomed to everything it had once forgotten, and it wasn't happy at all.

It had waited for Cory to stop speaking before it had even acknowledged the other, turning its vibrant golden gaze to the smaller creature as it also spoke, though he could feel the trepidation coming off this one in pulsing waves. Its hackles raised defensively, though it remained calm. "It has had many names. It's current name is Ragnar, it has been living here for many years... You just haven't seen it." it spoke, its voice a raspy growl after lack of use. "It is pleased to meet the both of you." It wasn't.

As it replied, Cory felt a sense of contentment. They seemed to be of no harm to him or his clanmate, whom had occupied the space beside him quickly. The wyvern flicked his tail a bit, cocking his cranium to the side. Gingerly, his head swept up and he allowed an orange eye to befall Ragnar once more, a soft puff of air drifting from his nose into the world.

What exactly are you? I’ve never seen anything like you before,” the wyvern inquired towards it, shifting to take a bit of a closer look. His tone was full of curiousity, his eyes drifting to and fro over the new member. Well, new in his eyes.

the graveyard, the cemetary, the final resting place of the dead. it was no stranger to him or to any that he had known. if any had known him, they would have known that the grim resided in the graveyard once himself as well. it had been a place to lay his aching body and broken heart so many years before when he'd lost his husband for the crime the other had committed. it hadn't made the loss any more bearable, or the loneliness of raising their children by himself any less lonely. though, he hadn't been alone. the grims were never far from one another, though he wandered more than the dark beast that had emerged from the graves within tanglewood. not that they were fated or similar, but the caretakers of the dead often had cause to run into each other. so lucky was this encounter that he bore no dead body for burial, rites or otherwise. no, this time he had come for the solemn peace and silence that graveyards often carried within them.

this time the mute had come for the peacefulness of the dead, and to rest his weary body. that was, until he saw a beast he hadn't come across in years. ears swiveling as gray eyes held the dark beast, walking forward as if possessed, his tail swinging slowly. he knew it, as it knew him. they were one and the same yet so different. pushing his ears to full stand, he would nod his head in greeting to ragnar. names weren't needed, the caretakers were creatures of the same darkness. turning his head to cory, amusement on the smaller grim's features before swishing his tail and scratching into the dirt, 'a dealer of the dead.'

the question that he himself had was as to why the other had revealed itself now after so many years of being a silent guardian. not that he hadn't minded it's presence so long ago, back when he'd been able to speak and there had been conversations regarding the dead and lost to the mortals. bittersweet this reunion, his gray eyes holding it's face in an unspoken concern. was ragnar alright? he knew he didn't have much position to question the other, but the gray tabby was glad to see a face that was familiar to him, the sense of heavy loneliness fading once again, as much as it had begun to feel like it was permanent. 'welcome back, ragnar.', he would scrawl once more, directed to the grim he felt a connection to through the years he had spent haunting these graves himself amongst others.
