there’s so much underrated artists out there, as well as ones which remain overlooked by the vast majority.

THIS IS A CRIME, AND I MUST NOT ALLOW IT!

thus, i have devised this little game thing, designed to help out others in finding new interests and tastes, as well as sharing how much one loves a certain artist

it works like this: if you want to reply, you must post a link to a song, an absolute banger - a jam. if you want, you can describe what exactly you love about this song. then, in that same reply, feel free to comment about someone else’s choice! this thread’s purpose is to birth discussion, and hopefully encouraging others to give your music a chance!

dont want to be too overbearing so the first person to reply can start

lemme start with my weird synesthesia-driven music taste.

my sound-to-texture synesthesia absolutely adores this song, all the sounds have these bafflingly unique textures that all collide and move around in the air beautifully.

i just gave that song a listen-to, and woah, that was a cool experience! i felt like the instruments all coincided smoothly with one another, making it sounding like a soundtrack of sorts. would definitely listen to more!

here is a song that ive liked for a while now; theyre a local band, and i actually saw them live, and they had a few big hits.

    paper lions - believer

note: since the actual music video isnt as entertaining, i linked a video by mysteryguitarman which showcases the exact same song.

I'm a person for the beats of the music as well as how well the words go with it, and I love how they go together and has an upbeat rhythm in the song you linked Toboggan! It made me happy ~

I'm not really sure what I like about this song specifically, but I was watching tamaytka do a speedpaint on youtube, and this happened to be playing in the background and I LOVED it

Gave that song a listen! I'm in love with the lyrics. His style reminds me of Jon Bellion for some odd reason.

The song that got me into one of my favorite artists. If you're a fan of classic or indie rock, this one might be your style.

OH MAN i've seen one of FF's live performances on youtube and tbh i only know "take me out" but?? the intro instrumentals is amazing! im totally into rock and this is so boppy/upbeat
this might just make it onto my skateboarding playlist

thIS is a popular song from a local southern cal band called "the frights"
they're like- THE band every indie kid listens to around here
it's really indie/punk-rock ish and im linking their live performance which has a lower pitch than the original song but i figured it would give yall something to look at

yo beatles i gave that song a listen. and then i have it another listen. and then another. and goddamn i love that song now. those little ooo’s and the wooo’s just make me feel so happy, while the actual lyrics are a little more fierce in nature. it practically screams california tbh.

gonna switch up the mood a little with the glorious sons - gordie. the song is a lot more sad now that gord downie has passed; some of the live performances are pretty damn emotional. the song was written about legendary singer (well, legendary to canadians, at least) gord downie, who took the lead of the groundbreaking band, the tragically hip.

essentially, brett emmons, the sons’ lead singer, goes on about how he, a sufferer from depression, anxiety, a current medical condition, and substance abuse, aspires to be like gord downie. gord downie always looked at life from the brighter side, and even when he had cancer, there was always a smile on his face. and while the song isnt necessarily sad, it was written when they knew gord downie had a terminal cancer, so this song can be seen as a plea - a plea to whatever higher power there is, to spare gordie’s life. unfortunately, that didn’t happen. and now, the song that was once a tribute to a great man who still lived, became a song paying tribute to a man who still technically lives, but in hearts and people’s thoughts.

ngl i teared up over this song quite a few times. i miss gord.

that was a really nice song toboggan, the beat and music was pretty catchy tbh

this is a song ive been listening to for a long while now and 2018 was fraught with many issues that i had to face and it kinda seems as time progressed it seemed more and more like the song almost described my life as word for word ive felt very similar to the lyrics of the song though most assuredly for very different reasons
