the male walked across the marsh slowly. he was still a kid and had no idea where he was. much less that he was trespassing. he was hungry and he was on a mission to find food. the hybrid child moved slowly towards a pool of water. only stopping when he was floating in the water. waiting until a smal bird flew just low enough.

alas, his timing was off as he burst up at the bird. falling back into the water, he would let out a rather angry rumble and slowl sink into the pool. letting just his eyes and nose stay at the surface. watching. waiting.

It had watched the little creature since the very moment he entered the territory. Its vibrant gaze had followed it as it traversed the land, wondering what it was he wanted and most of all, wondering what it would do.

He seemed harmless. it had watched its failed attempts at hunting with a veiled sense of amusement, and as it watched it sink back into the pool, it decided it was time to reveal itself. It allowed itself to become visible again, treading carefully into the water to stare down at the child. "You are on Tanglewood land." it began, its voice raspy and deep, brows furrowed. "State your name, and your business... Please." its attempt at being friendly and polite had probably not worked; its body in and of itself was intimidating.

the child's failed attempt at hunting had caught the small tom's attention, having been scrounging around the swamp lands for some form of greenery and herbs, the first shoots of the season having driven him out in search of the new herbs. his most important search was for mallow, as with spring, came the often stomachache and he would prefer to have the herb on hand. inhaling and exhaling to calm the stir of his heart leaping into action within his breast, the tom would shake himself out before turning to find the source of the splash that he had heard.

coming across the sight of ragnar and the young hybrid, he tipped his head before padding closer to join them, dirt covering his muzzle and whiskers, paws stained green by the young plants he had been working with, set into a small basket he had found abandoned in the swamp. setting down his basket, he looked up to ragnar with a twitch of his ears before settling his gaze on the child. speaking was not possible for the smaller grim, but he hoped that his own appearance had softened how harsh ragnar's words might have seemed.

the child was not aware of the prying eyes of a stranger.. nor was he aware that someone owned these lands. he simply wanted food and was seeking it. alas, his peaceful hunting attempts were now interrupted by a stranger. not his ideal situation, but he could manage. so, the small male would let his bright red optics lock onto the intimidating form of the stranger. taking in words spoken unto him, he would wait a moment.

it would do no harm to answer such a simple request. so, the child would lift just his snout from the waters. the alligator headed kid would then speak to the male. "dion. i did not know there were others here. tanglewood is a group? perhaps i can join?" he answered as he noted the stranger was no longer alone. a second stood silently watching him. this one was less intimidating in nature. not that dion seemed scared.
