I'M FILLING THE VOID, TIME TO GET EVEN !
It had been a strange interaction that brought her this far into the cold and snow, an even stranger interaction awaiting the woman. Breath misting around her muzzle in the chilled night air, whiskers dewy with her own breath. Her sides ached with the effort of traveling here, guided by the written word of a small gray tom cat, one who smelled of roses and the undeniable hint of smoke. Breath catching as a pained groan left her, limping along the barely-trodden path, eyes trained on the trees ahead of her where she could make out flickering lights. She could only pray it was someone that lived out this far into the woods, and not some ill-made spirit. Steps staggering under the burden of her own battle hammer, cursing her luck. Of course she just had to be ambushed on her way back to report that her job had been completed, minus her partner, left for his own homelands to check on his father who they had received word had been grievously injured.

The journey back to their base had been fairly easy, until she was about a two day travel from the outpost. She had been attacked by four dark figures in the early nighttime and had escaped after a fierce scrap. The battle had left her bloody and sore, aware that she bore broken bones and broken flesh, her nose dripping now, though she didn't know if it was blood or snot. Pausing to gather her breath before continuing on. By the time that she had reached the lights she'd seen from afar, she knew that her informant had been correct. There was at least someone who lived out here, and she didn't quite have the strength to walk up the stairs leading to the front porch of the cabin. Groaning as she felt the world wobble once again, sitting down roughly under the lit trees, chest heaving as she shouldered out of the harness her hammer was attached to. Letting it drop to the ground, she braced her forelegs with a rasping, "Shit." as she let her head drop to her chest, closing her eyes to stop the world from spinning.

She didn't know how much time had slipped past her until she opened her eyes again, a light dusting of snow across her shoulders and back, ears flicking the annoying chill away. Looking up to the cabin, it seemed that the homeowner had not yet noticed their impromptu visitor. Now what had that tiny tom told her to say to the homeowner? Whatever it was, she just needed to get to the cabin. It was a bit rude to appear now with the sun long below the horizon, but she supposed she had very little other choice. As she dragged herself to her paws, picking up her hammer and carrying it by the shaft, trotting heavy paws along the path lit by the trees, slight blood splatters spilling onto the dirt and snow, a clear path for any that might follow. Survival had brought her here, though her wounds had been bandaged by her informant, leaving her with some yellow petals of a sort to show the homeowner. Something along the lines of showing she was sent by someone that the homeowner knew? She just hoped it worked. Hesitating as she came to the steps of the cabin, wondering if it was right to climb and knock, but she would rather deal with an irate homeowner now than in the morning. Taking a breath and setting down her hammer, she trudged up the steps with some difficulty, wings and legs trembling with the effort of moving. Licking her lips and whiskers, raising a shaking paw to rap on the door once, twice and then thrice before sitting down heavily on the stoop, ears drooping with the exhaustion of her journey to some place safe to hide for a while.

THE WINTER SUNRISE, RED ON WHITE

Byriath's gaze lifted from the dying fireplace, traveling to the door. He wasn't expecting anyone - Theseus had gone to some long-distance land. But the knocking on his door was as real as the floorboards under him.

Muscles and bones ached slightly as he hauled himself up, stretching powerful legs as he slowly walked to the door. His pawsteps were heavy, betraying his weight and power.

He opened the door, and at first saw nothing. He was half tempted to close the door, but something caught his eye below him. Byriath looked down, and glowing eyes widened at the sight of the feline. The only ones who knew where he lived were his children and Aesior.

But here this stranger was, injured and bandaged. A hint of smoke and roses clinging to them, and his nose twitched. "Hello."
