Exhaustion.
It was consuming the tom rapidly, making him extremely slow in his steps. The sun was just beginning to rise, and he was barely able to stand. His eyelids dropped, and then immediately fluttered open in an attempt to keep moving. His paws dragged across the territory, and he let out gentle sighs. All he wanted was to get back to his humble home and rest, nothing else mattered right now.
Hauling the rabbit in his jaws into the pile, he would shift his head so his yellow eyes could view the camp. It was just starting to pick up pace, and many strange creatures were just getting started with their days. Inwardly, he regretted staying out for such a measly ration. Outwardly, he tried his best to be proud of his catch.
As he stood, he felt the weight of the world collapse atop of him. Everything was so draining, and the sweet whispers of sleep dared to lull him away from consciousness. Yet, the paranoia lurking within his brain forced him awake. What if he was ambushed in his sleep? Or what if someone tried to take Vintara? He needed to stay awake, this was dire for his child’s safety.
