there was a heaviness to the air, like a building storm was set to burst. breath shivered over his whiskers, the older feline slowly walking through the swamps that tanglewood called home, whiskers trembling with the weighty of dewy moisture, the same dew that slowly soaked through his pelt, drenching him to the bone with it's chill. it was early in the morning, following the night that a storm had burst. far overhead, above the canopy of the trees, would his crow friend wheel and fly, crying out now and then, hunting for bugs and playing with other crows that rose from the greenery.

below, he trailed, searching for any damages made by the storm and its fury the night before. around him, he could feel the pressing of the spirits that called tanglewood's swamps their home, their whispers guiding him away from dangerous areas, or so he wished. stomach growling, he paused for a moment, debating on if it would be smart to do a little hunting, to see what food he could bring back to the camp. flicking his tail as he looked around, wishing he could see a few certain outlines in the mist of the morning, of the shapes of his loved ones. exhaling in disappointment, eyes ranging over the misty banks slowly rolling through the untamed jungle of trees, hoping to see him. he would be disappointed yet again, left to shake his head with a weary sigh.
