Julius was, indeed, sleeping when his wife had rushed out the room. It was what woke him up -- seeing a glimpse of her sprinting out of the door made him suddenly full of energy, his entire body scrambling to get up and follow her. Panic surged in him -- was she injured? Sick? It hounded at his feet and he followed hurriedly.

"My Rose!" He yelped, finding her just in time to see her fall nearby the splash of blood. Scampering to her side, he attempted to place a paw on her forehead to check for a fever. "Are you alright, dear?" He hushed, unfurling a wing to shield her from the dying light.
