Ximen cracked open an eye. Damned loud kids, waking him up in the middle of his nap. Wasn’t midday for sleeping? It was too damned troublesome to do anything else in this heat.
“Fucking right it’s too hot,” the cheetah said, fanning himself with his leathery wings. The man’s golden eyes blinked the flies away. If it weren’t for the wings and his blinks, the splayed feline could’ve been mistaken for dead. He never moved much, not unless he needed to.
He yawned, licked his teeth, and blinked at his nephew and niece. Niblings? Was that the term? Ugh. The heat addled his fucking bran.
“Doubt even water elementals could pull water from a stone. Not like there’s much to draw on, yeah?” he said to Atbash. He yawned again. “Might be good to ask, good point, those fucking pirates gotta have watery… water people.” Fuck, he yawned again. “Everyone knows what Ximen means, yeah? Good idea. Should definitely do. Maybe trade some, IDK—” He pronounced this, literally, with the three letters only. “—gatorskin or moonshine. Pirates always need more alcohol. Stereotype, ha.”
