Lazing about in town an hour after sunrise, Ximen took his time inspecting his knives. The resident insomniac’s brain hurt from too little rest, and his late-night hunt hadn’t helped matters. He’d brought back a buck—as evident by the food pile—but lost a bone knife or two in the process. He didn’t think sleep deprivation sufficed as an excuse.
“Least the buck came with antlers,” he grumbled to himself. Yawning hard enough to hear his jaw pop, he closed his eyes and flicked his ears back.
His paws and telekinesis began the work of breaking the antlers into manageable pieces. Crack! A piece too short for anything but a handle. Craaaa-CRACK! Perfect. Snap! And there was his groove, breaking the antlers apart into a multitude of useful pieces; he stuffed most into a bag for storing later, but he kept one out for carving.
Well, carving after he took a quick nap. Grumbling to himself about how dare Els not be awake yet to light his cigs for him, he shut his eyes with the intention of getting some damned sleep before the rest of the group woke up and began their insufferable noises.
