> upon diving into the waters, she had found herself in trouble, seeing only the faintest glimmer of the sword down at the bottom of the lake, the waters freezing despite the hot summer temperatures. glaring at the bastard upon the shores behind her, the woman would dive deeper into the frigid waters to retrieve her prize. she had heard tales of this sword, thrown into the waters by a long ago hero. she had heard tales of the sword caladbolg, and the fallen king who had once swung the greatsword - a tempting rumor that her family had been descended from the fallen king of ulster so long in the past.
> the sword she retrieved was not the legendary caladbolg, though it was of its own importance and lore. no excalibur or caladbolg, the sword she retrieved must have been as old as those in such tales, for it shone without grime or muck sticking to the blade, gleaming opal-like and golden in the frigid waters. returning to the surface, she would be met by a throng of monsters, blocking her from her return to shore.
> grasping her sword, she set to work in clearing her way back to the smug creature waiting upon land for her. how much a devil this lear seemed to her, calling herself a fool for having believe this would be easy. she had read the tales - the one waiting so impatiently must be none other than a member of the grey lords, sent to torment her for her dealings with the fae.

> returning to the shore with her sword in hand, dripping of lake water and murky gore, would the woman point her blade at the fae's throat with the furious words to keep their immortality. there had been no promise between them, the deal already sworn. she owed them her soul, an item she would not part with willingly. it seemed that even the grey lord themselves would not let her die so easily, slaying a monster behind her with a mere word of power.
> flustered by this being before her, knowing she had sworn a deal that she would have no way of knowing the outcome of. it had been foolish to hope that her family would come back, or that she would find happiness in some form when she lived so alone.
> there was no way of proving her immortality aside from trying to kill herself. she was no fool, she would continue to live her life as she was. as the years passed, she noticed that her body remained young and fit, attractive as she had been in her youth. she was no fairy queen though she enraptured those who had need of the witch.
> with an unnaturally long life ahead of her, she knew she could not stay put, not when the folk from the town noticed the lack of changes in the witch. lucky had she been, to be born in a time after the witch hunts though it did nothing to soothe the fears of persecution. abandoning her homestead and most of her belongings, the witch packed up a bag and went on her way, set to travel the world and collect the stories and histories of the world as best as she could, at least within the countries of Scotland, England, and Ireland, occasionally making trips across the sea to the lands of Norway, Finland, Denmark and more.
> an accident at sea left her for dead, the waters sure to become a watery grave for the witch. when darkness had taken her vision, she had awakened upon an unfamiliar shore, in a body she had never been within before. she had arrived to the islands of Beyond, in the body of a three year old calico, with a bag of her belongings so wonderfully preserved.
