Of many things, it was perhaps most familiar with campfires. Fire had been around since before it, and it would be here after it too. It had no reason to fear it; fire could be controlled in a variety of ways, though it knew that many before him and many after him would fear it; just because it was controllable, does not mean it wasn't dangerous.
Still, fire drew a sense of comfort from within it. It ambled closer, eyeing down the three beings surrounding the pit, quirking a brow at the tiny creature that had nestled itself at Cory's paw. It didn't appear to be able to speak yet, still far too young for that. It smirked, settling itself down to curl up beside the fire, listening to Cory's woes. He seemed to be an inherently sad creature; he wondered what had made him so sad, if there was a reason for it.
"It has been around for so long it can't remember its past mortal life." it rumbled, looking up at Cory sympathetically. "You'll waste your life worrying about the past or the future. The present is where you are now." it hoped its words were comforting.
