The lion head’s pieces rolled between her paws. Ninazu’s glowing eyes narrowed; the serval had no doubt which brother Sojourn’s feelings were directed towards. Romulus was the only one of the Malus-Harbringers to fill Stryker’s pawprints. Not even Ninazu successfully filled the void left by her late husband; she sighed and tapped at the ruined wood with a claw.

“I’m here now, Sojourn, if you want to talk.” The serval doubted the rotting lioness heard her. And if she did, why would Sojourn want her mother as a therapist?

Ninazu glanced at Inferno and Zuriela, before pawing the wooden pieces into her satchel for later. The ex-kingpin already knew she wouldn’t toss these into the bonfire; the symbolism turned her stomach, even if the broken pieces didn’t remind her of Romulus. No, she’d bury them in the forest and stew on what this meant about her daughter’s psyche.
