aubrey wasn't sure what to make of tanglewood. sure, some of the people were nice, but they could also be big and scary (looking at you, fish), and it was so unfamiliar. aubrey's childhood had been a very sheltered one. she had been born in a large field and grew up in that same field, playing with her siblings and learning how to hunt and fight. she had never intentionally left that area until she left her family. aubrey had been told about what was in the big world, of course. she had been told about basic animals, and then about the beasts. the strange, sometimes wonderful, creatures that were six feet tall and breathed fire and such. that hadn't prepared aubrey for what she would find outside her painfully tiny world.

she was trying to get used to it. to tanglewood's many different creatures, and to the strange place that they called home. the territory seemed gigantic to aubrey. she had barely begun to explore it. it would take a while before she could easily find her way back to the middle of the territory. she was sticking close to the town today, not fancying a dramatic adventure where she got lost, almost cried, and then finally found her way back- that had all been done yesterday.
no, aubrey was exploring a place closer to the town; the farm. the field of rye and wheat reminded her of the field she had called home for so long.

the long-legged serval was perched on a fencepost, a remaining piece from one of the farm animals' pens, taking a rest from her exploration of the farm. aubrey's eyes were following a group of cows as they shuffled around in the field. she wouldn't go closer because they looked (like a lot of things, she was finding) too scary. aubrey adjusted her position slightly, her front toes curling around the edge of the fencepost, and kept watching.

[align=center][div style="borderwidth=0px; width: 55%; color: black; line-height:115%; text-align: justify;font-family:arial;"]Marvolo had grown up in a community much like this, although much smaller. It was comprised of individual families who lived within the same vicinity, and they treated each other like how human neighbors would on a residential street. Although Marvolo had some sort of exposure to the outside world, he had suffered less-than-adequate treatment from his foster family. He had been treated like a peasant, constantly having to clean and do things for his family and sleep on the cold, hard ground with little to no acknowledgement from his "parents" at all. He had been glad to flee his old home, anyways. Although he was still assimilating into Tanglewood, he found that there was much more freedom here than he had ever experienced.

The jet-black serval brought himself to a fence, his emerald eyes surveying the similarly-green pasture. He dully observed the animals roaming about — the cows specifically. Marvolo had only seen so many before in his life, but from what he understood, they were mostly good for their meat and for the milk that they produced. Other than that, he deemed them as useless (and smelly, too).

He noticed someone perched atop the fence — a fellow serval, specifically. Marvolo couldn't say that he recognized her, though. He wasn't one for strolling up to people and barraging people with their names and such; he would much rather prefer a conversation to develop naturally. "Oafish creatures, aren't they?" He muttered, not taking his gaze off of the horizon.

Amun wasn't sure where he was going. He wasn't sure if this was such a good idea. What if he got lost and his sister couldn't find him? No, that was a foolish thought. Amunet would always fine him. He was sure of that much. He wasn't sure what he thought of this new experience. There were some things he loved about having a physical form, such as feeling the rocks and plants he adored so much beneath his paws. But then there were people. He wasn't sure how to handle them or how to make them like him in the same way they seemed to like his sister. He didn't understand their jokes or the looks they gave each other and that frustrated and confused him more than anything else. For whatever reason, it seemed his sister hadn't prepared him for this moment and he didn't understand why he'd been kept from the rest of the world for so long. Had she been afraid of what he'd do or how he'd reflect upon her? And how long had it been since she last called upon him? She hadn't answered the question but he hoped it was only because that, at that moment, there'd been more visitors. He'd ask her again eventually but he knew she was upset right now. It was best to let her recover. His purpose was to comfort her, not to cause her more anguish.

He was pulled from those thoughts when he saw two unfamiliar figures and carefully made his way forward, his ears pressed against head for a reason even he didn't understand. His eyes drifted to the cows, which the pair seemed to be discussing. "Useful," he barely thought about the words as he said them. How did he know cows were useful? He'd never seen one. Yet he knew that they produced leather and milk and meat and that they could be used for sacrifices to some gods. Perhaps it was from the nights when his spirit wandered, gathering information. "But unsanitary," he wasn't sure where that come from either, other than the fact that ever since getting a physical form he'd been having nightmares of getting sick. It was constant when he was outside of Amunet's body but he didn't understand why. He wasn't even sure if he could get sick. He assumed that if he could, it would've happened already. Yet these nightmares and fears still plagued him, even if they were far from plausible.
