so, sure, beck said no swamp exploring. but in valo’s mind...well, really, what was going to happen to them? more mutating? death? that thought was extremely funny to them and simultaneously made them ill.

they shook that off and focused on the mission at hand.

at the drooling mutant’s feet was a basket of flowers and shiny knick-knacks. mostly glass and gleaming metal cans. a scrap of filthy paper was folded and tucked amidst it all with risqué love poetry scrawled tenderly within.

valo-kas was going to find themself an alligator and, god willing, woo the fuck out of it. there had to be at least one sentient one out there, right? just minding their sexy, sexy business out there in the murk, waiting for a dashing pussy cat to shower them in adoration?

stranger things had happened. valo-kas lifted the basket and marched forward to their destiny.

"Where d'ya think you're going, Valo?" Beck prided himself on his apparent ability to know what everyone was doing at any time -- of course, thanks to a bad habit of lurking and stalking after those with more interesting things to do than him. It was a fact of life that people would disobey orders, he was a rebellious little brat himself. He wasn't surprised in the least, especially considering the culprit was Valo-kas. Clicking exposed molars together as he stalked from his previous position among bramble thickets, the poltergeist shook thorns from his matted flanks and lazily snickered out teasing words, "Guess one dead mutant ain't gonna scare another into common sense." What was the point of trying to control Valo's unpredictable actions. His frigid paws halted a distance away from the oozing feline, unsure if he wanted to ask about the contents of the basket.

"S'pose ya can go off to do, uh, whatever, but only if..." he paused for dramatic tension, sharklike fangs biting down on his lower lip in a taunting half-grin, ".. ya got a buddy." Valo-kas couldn't possibly get into trouble or maybe toxic, radioactive waste if they had a perfectly-responsible poltergeist keeping an eye on them. But Beck was only volunteering because he was looking for any excuse to escape the stuffy camp and strict clanmates.

If it wasn't already apparent from Lance's innocent nature, he knew nothing about love, nor did he know anything about... the other side of it. At this point in his life, that second part was none of his concern. He had already experienced love before- well, he had had a crush before but... it had gone nowhere. His point being, it would be nice to have a partner, although it wasn't a need for him at the moment- and if he happened to meet someone cute, he would take whatever came next! There were some cute people here in Tanglewood already, after all...

His stupid little thoughts aside, however, Atlanticpaw had been relaxing outside when he overhead Beck talking to someone he didn't know, curiosity overtaking him. Prancing over, the boy gave a small wave of his tail in greeting, tipping his head to one side. "What's going on? Where are you going?" He asked, eyeing Valos' basket. Strange- what was all that for?

“[color=salmon]swamp.” they chirped blithely, slogging forward without a care for what the leader had to say. valo-kas was after love, baby. they shook their head curtly when beck mentioned common sense, three eyes blinking. “[color=salmon]don’t have that.” they shrugged, as if it wasn’t a huge deal. really, to valo, it wasn’t. that was just how it was.

they would’ve quirked a brow if they had it when beck brought up buddy systeming this shit. “[color=salmon]okay, im gonna be real with you though, i’m looking for a gator. because i think they’re really hot. and i want one. to be like, y’know. my gf. gatorfriend.” no point beating around the bush. if beck was still in for the shitshow that might ensue, then...well, alright.

valo-kas, standing in mud and trying to keep it out of their offering basket, looked over their shoulder at atlanticpaw. “[color=salmon]hello you bastard boy. i am going to go find the love of my life and i guess i’ll allow company.” they sighed dramatically.

“[color=salmon]riddle me this ya dumb bitch, ever gone out and looked for a sentient gator that would treat you right? no killing?? just like, have y’ever tried? pull your nasty doubter’s claws outta my junk and let me have this. welcome to the shitshow, baby.”

the shitshow would then commence with valo-kas leading their audience into the radioactive murk, goft basket turned blushing with the copious amounts of medicine-pink drool being spat up onto it as they held the handle.

it would take some time until they found a gator and when they did valo-kas would gasp like a woman whose husband was back from some bullshit war, three eyes moon-wide. they looked at their company, then at the gator, which lay a wide stretch of deep water away on a muddy bank, probably snoozing.

    “[color=salmon]here we go...”
